HAPPY 10 YEARS

I would never want to be labeled as one of those fan girls ooglozing over mainstream celebrities. I especially find those diehard fan girls who worship asian celebrities the biggest nuisances ever. But these are my confessions,

I started listening to Jay Chou back in my 3rd year HS. The first song I had with him is Yi Lu xiang Bei (All the way North) because of his lead in filming Initial D. I was a silent "listener" back then, coz I dont know other people who also likes Jay Chou, so I never claimed myself as a fan. I can't say that he has infested me through the ages, not until Now! FANGIRL KUNG FANGIRL. I maybe a late bloomer since I just joined Jay Chou in his middle of his career, which urges me to crave his music more and more. Jay Chou has made me the most ardent, know-every-song-by-heart-and-its-piano-cover, fan girl ever. Last week, I listened to his new album “The Era”. Beloved, Jay Chou has done it. Jay Chou is officially hands down the best artist of this decade. Jay Chou has gotten rebellious pure Filipino girls like me re-washed in his sappysappy songs and fobby glamor.

**Genre Defying-Jay Chou’s music ranges from hip hop, r&b, rock, rap, ballads/poppy, and even country. While Jay’s songs are so crazily ranged, they all still remain true to his style and are still signatory to Jay. He is the only pop artist that has been able to sustain a fan base for 10 years and keep it growing. I would blame his success on his open-minded optimistic attitude. Let’s face it, artists today are so frikken prideful. They are so obstinate on sticking to their own styles and morals that their creativity has been completely subdued by their stubborness. The day that T-Pain stops auto-tuning, Taylor Swift gets over her high school heart breaks, or Eminem controls his anger, is the day that I die. Fine, maybe Jay Chou’s country song was slightly ridiculous, but at least he tried. And because Jay chou is such an experimenter, he’s been able to create truly fresh and original songs.

**Shakespeare 2.0-People think they can collage the following words -shawty booty drank love club- in any song and call it music. NO. Check out this sample of words from Jay’s song “Qi Li Xiang”. Don’t laugh because the translation isn’t entirely right, just know that these words in Chinese translate to some epic rhymes.

**Marriage of East and West-Every time I hear some Asian artist try to sing in English with his fobby accent, my gut wrenches with ethnic embarrassment. It’s catastrophic when Asian artists try to imitate western artists. However, Jay Chou successfully marries eastern and western flavors. Jay’s able to create funky fresh songs and beats that are sprinkled with erhus, orchestras, chinese drums, and old school opera singers. And it WORKS, magically. His musical ingenuity is one of a kind.

**True and Trendbreaking- You have all these musicians today who sound the same because they’re chasing a trend. You have your Lohans and Cyruses undergoing sluttaformation because destroying dignities is the supposed road for every young female superstar. Trends die, Jay doesn’t. Jay is the only artist I know who can top the charts with his raps about his grandmother or produce a song like “listen to your mother’s words”. He is not only creating his very own musical flavors, but challenges the moral paradigms of this perverse music industry.

The list could go on and on, but HAPPY 10 YEARS OF SUCCESS JAY. I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVER AND I WILL STILL BE LISTENING TO YOU ON MY LIFE'S JOURNEY.

Jay Chou thanks judges for appreciating magic in music

The results for The Association of Music Workers in Taiwan 2008 have come out, Jay Chou once again becomes the big winner. The chart for this association is seen as an indication of the GMAs, if this is indeed real, Jay Chou, who has been left out in the cold for many years by the GMAs, has a real chance to shine at the GMAs. According to reports, every year The Association of Music Workers in Taiwan announce the top ten albums and singles. Jay Chou got into the top ten albums with "Capricorn" which he released last year, his song "Mr Magic" got into the top ten singles, Eason Chan and MC HotDog both had an album in the top ten and two singles, they got the best results of the year. But, this is already the fifth time Jay Chou has got into the top ten albums, it's his sixth time getting into the top ten singles, he is without a doubt the biggest winner of the awards history. Towards winning the award, Jay Chou says: "I'll like to thank the judges for understanding the magic I played with in the music!"

We all know Jay Chou is a gifted artist. This day, Iam declaring him as my Mr. Magic! haha

He's damn good in any field of art, name it! singing, acting, dancing, playing musical instrments, directing, composing, script writing and even magic tricks! what more could you ask for!!! :))

I could say that he's really excellent in singing.

A pandemonium breaks loose every time he makes a field goal beyond the three-point line, most especially during crucial time. He was born July 15, 1985 with a “golden spoon” on his mouth. God gave him not only good-looks with an attitude but also a big humble heart that no one can break, that I myself could prove. His ability to focus on what he does and what he wants bear out how he manages to budget his time wisely, even with a hectic schedule he handle things smoothly by obviously prioritizing his studies before anything else. Players from the other member-schools of the UAAP perhaps envy the attention that this 23-year-old gets, on and off court.

Mr. Three Pointer already graduated last March2008 with a degree in Management Engineering. He’s now taking up his second course, Applied Mathematics major in Mathematical Finance.

Want to know more about his studies?Well, let me inform you that he is a consistent Dean’s lister in his College. He actually missed one UAAP season for the reason that he had an opportunity to left Philippines for France to be an exchange studentand represent his school. See, how he prioritize things up? Anyway, like most Chinese, he is business-minded too. When not on the hard court or in the classroom, he can be seen behind a food stall that he owns in the University, busy attending to customers and taking quick bites from (usually) a late lunch or mirienda.

Now, as he expands his territory in this field of industry. He is already managing running another branch of his food stall, to be precise, in Miriam College. By the way his food stall’s name is “Chinky Chickens”, you might see a branch in Trinoma since he considered putting up there.Talking about his social life, he was the former Sangguniang Kabataan Chairman in his Barangay. He’s actually living at Barangay Urdaneta, Makati. Last Barangay elections, he ran as a Barangay Councilor. Luckily, he won! Oops, his career does not only stop here! As he steps on the spotlight of show business, to be a television icon, commercial model and an endorser, in fact he has a charisma that could ignite a girl to crave for him. Above all hisprofessions and priorities in life, this blue-blooded guy never fails to thank God for all the blessings he received. They call him as the modern role model of the youth.

Still clueless about who is he? Allow me to introduce you the guy I’m talking about, who made me boosts off my energy when I see him in action. He’s not a bird—but he’s a soaring-high Blue Eagle—not a plane—but a dominating force who could sweep the fields away.

And his name is… Tiu-perman, err, Chris Tiu!
